How To Clean Stainless Steel Bathroom Partitions

Stainless steel toilet partitions are like the Terminators of toilet partitions. No matter what you hit them with, they just keep going. These bathroom juggernauts aren't invincible though and without proper cleaning and maintenance they can corrode and become ruined. Stainless steel isn't 100 percent stainless and under the right conditions can rust. Protect them, and that won't happen.

Standard Cleaning

Even without the worry of rusting, bathroom partitions need to be cleaned regularly. Your customers come in every day and don't want to see dirty partitions while they're doing their business. When you're trying to run a business, the bathroom may be the last thing on your mind, but make cleaning it part of your overall cleaning routine.

In addition to aesthetics, toilet partitions come in contact with everything under the sun from fecal matter and urine to various bacteria that people carry in. Ideally, they're cleaned every day using a mild soap and warm water. You can also use glass cleaner and a washcloth. Don't use anything abrasive or harsh cleaners for regular cleaning.

What Creates Rust On Stainless Steel?

Stainless steel is rust resistant, but not impervious. If it's put into regular contact with certain substances, then over time it can develop rust. If you use any cleaners containing bleach on the partitions, then you're going to see rust. The same goes for water with high iron content or contact with iron materials like steel wool. Salt is another no go and that includes everything from table salt to rock salt. People that live in areas with snow can find people tracking in salt on their boots and it makes its way onto the partitions. Trapped moisture is another culprit such as what might come between the toilet paper dispenser and the partition, etc.

Cleaning Rust Off Toilet Partitions

Given enough time, the contaminants can cause rust to form on the stainless steel toilet partitions. They need to be taken care of as soon as possible, or it could end up pitting and ruining the partitions. This is the only time abrasive items can be used on the partitions. If the partition has a bright polished surface, then use Naval Jelly on the rusted area and it will dissolve the rust.

If you have a satin finish, then use a mild abrasive like Bon Ami on a damp cloth and rub the impacted area. Once the rust is gone, rinse the area with warm water and dry. For rougher finishes, you can use a mild abrasive and an abrasive pad. Rub with the grain until rust is gone. Rinse with water and dry. Do not use an abrasive pad on any stainless still that has a finish as it will ruin it. All Partitions is your one-stop-shop for all your toilet partitions and toilet accessory needs.
